Remembering Big Jim Sykes

Graceland was saddened to learn about the passing of longtime Elvis Radio DJ James "Big Jim" Sykes this week. Big Jim joined the Elvis Radio team in the early 2000s, becoming a familiar voice to Elvis fans through live broadcasts from Graceland.

As his obituary says it best - Jim was known for the warmth and enthusiasm he brought to every broadcast. His unmistakable voice, paired with his genuine love for Elvis’s music, made each show feel like a gathering of friends. He created a sense of community for fans everywhere—welcoming callers, sharing stories, and celebrating the music that meant so much to him. His kindness, humor, and passion for radio left an indelible mark on colleagues and listeners alike.

Our thoughts go out to Jim's family and his Elvis Radio family.

Yes, they announced it on Thursday. Such a shame that he died so young. I recall he had heart issues a few years back. He seemed like a really nice guy.
