I would much rather have the original TTWII movie with upgraded video and sound quality on Blu-ray.BlackpoolEPfan wrote: November 10th, 2025, 4:02 am Whatever happened to the rumoured blu ray re-release of "E.O.T" with reinstated "Johnny B. Goode" opening credits sequence?? Anyone any idea??

Absolutely agree. The special edition looks and sounds good but misses some essential moments of the original, like I just Can't Help Believin' and Sweet Caroline. The original definitely needs an upgrade... Bluray or 4K.KingElvis wrote: November 10th, 2025, 3:47 pmI would much rather have the original TTWII movie with upgraded video and sound quality on Blu-ray.BlackpoolEPfan wrote: November 10th, 2025, 4:02 am Whatever happened to the rumoured blu ray re-release of "E.O.T" with reinstated "Johnny B. Yes… and the DVD version is so poor that I’m almost speechless.Bilbobaggins wrote: November 11th, 2025, 1:31 amAbsolutely agree. Still, I’ll be very surprised if it ever gets released on Blu-ray.
There was a time when I really wanted the original on Blu-ray, but after a fan
made a really great version with the missing footage — upscaled video and added
stereo sound — that he posted on FECC about three years ago, I really don’t
think about the original movie anymore.

I'd be surprised too if it gets a release on bluray (or 4K). But if those lightweight 60's movies get a bluray release... then a musically relevant movie like TTWII (the original, that is) should deserve an upgrade. It was a missed opportunity when the Special Edition was released, that a bonus disc with the original, remastered, wasn't included.KingElvis wrote: November 11th, 2025, 4:31 am

And the August 12 MS performance of Suspicious Minds... the one from the 11th just isn't as impactful...

I do believe whenever "On Tour" has been screened on the Sky Arts channel in recent years, it has been the original opening credits sequence with "Johnny B. Goode"!!!BlackpoolEPfan wrote: November 10th, 2025, 4:02 am Whatever happened to the rumoured blu ray re-release of "E.O.T" with reinstated "Johnny B. Goode" opening credits sequence?? Hmmm...why no blu ray reissue of the original???

We almost got the bluray a few years ago but cancelled due to song copyright issues.

Not sure what you mean here? You mean the original with the JBG opening? (because EOT has already been issued on blu ray)BlackpoolEPfan wrote: November 11th, 2025, 3:40 pmI do believe whenever "On Tour" has been screened on the Sky Arts channel in recent years, it has been the original opening credits sequence with "Johnny B. If you mean with the JBG opening I wouldn't hold your breath because from what I've heard the Chuck Berry estate wants ridiculous money for the rights to the song. And TBH why would Warner bother reissuing EOT for the opening song... doesn't seem likely.

Yes, I mean the original Golden Globe-winning movie released in cinemas in 1972/73 and subsequently first screened on TV in the mid/late 70's and then released, and reissued, on home video in the 80's & 90's - all with "J.B.G." in place, not "Don't Be Cruel".elvis-fan wrote: November 12th, 2025, 11:46 amNot sure what you mean here? Yes, l heard about the Chuck Berry estate rights to the song many years ago, but one could only assume that the rights issue had been sorted due to the fact that the original "On Tour" (aforementioned above) has been doing the rounds on the likes of the Sky Arts channel in recent years - with "J.B.G." intact, not "D.B.C."
I also heard that the blu ray release (or re-release), featuring "D.B.C." opening, as part of the "Elvis On Tour" box set (2023) was issued with a view to discontinuing the rest of the stock of this version in order to make way for a release of the original film (with "J.B.G." opening) on blu ray for the first time in the near future...???
Re: "Elvis On Tour" - blu ray rumour...
As I understand it, every time a song is going to be used on a new medium, (Blu-Ray in this case), the standard statutory royalty rate doesn't apply like it did on the previous medium, so the owner(s) of a song can hold out and ask for a higher royalty... which film companies don't want to meet because then every other song will then go for the higher rate as well.

Re: "Elvis On Tour" - blu ray rumour...
You can also rip the blu ray, put it in a video editor, add JBG and make all of it full screen. I don't like the varying picture size on a TV screen. And then put it on a USB stick and enjoy. A year from now after EPiC will be released there will be enough extra footage to make your own special edition together with the upgraded lost performances footage.
