Ozzy Osbourne Doc ‘No Escape From Now’ Sets October Release Date on Paramount+, Reveals Emotional Trailer

By Ellise Shafer

Ozzy Osbourne documentary “No Escape From Now” has revealed its release date alongside an emotional trailer, featuring one of the late rock icon’s final on-camera interviews.

The two-hour film, which chronicles Osbourne’s health struggles and journey to return to the stage over the past six years, will premiere on Paramount+ Oct. 7. It will be available to stream exclusively on the platform internationally, excluding Japan.

Directed by BAFTA winner Tania Alexander, the doc was produced in collaboration with the Osbourne family and includes intimate interviews with Ozzy himself, his wife Sharon Osbourne and children Aimee, Kelly and Jack Osbourne. The family discusses at length the fall Ozzy suffered in February 2019 that led to him canceling his two-year farewell tour.

“Detailing his numerous corrective surgeries, escalating health issues and the progressive effects of his Parkinson’s diagnosis, ‘Ozzy: No Escape From Now’ delivers a brave, unvarnished and relatable portrait of a man, highlighting how Ozzy’s ongoing chronic pain impacted his mental health and informed the music he made during this period,” the doc’s official synopsis reads.

The doc goes inside the studio with Ozzy as he records his 2019 Post Malone collaboration “Take What You Want” and the two albums that followed. “It got me out of the blues. It helped me. That was the best medicine I ever had at that point,” Ozzy says in the trailer.

“No Escape From Now” also documents Osbourne’s decision to play a final farewell show in his hometown of Birmingham on July 5, just weeks before he died on July 22 at the age of 76. “‘Ozzy: No Escape From Now’ was never intended as a posthumous film,” a press release reads. However, the documentary now stands as a testament to Ozzy’s courage, wit, determination and talent – qualities that ensure he remains a hero to millions around the world.”

Alongside Osbourne’s family, “No Escape From Now” features interviews with Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), Duff McKagan and Slash (Guns N’ Roses), Robert Trujillo and James Hetfield (Metallica), Billy Idol, Maynard James Keenan (Tool), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Ozzy’s longstanding guitarist Zakk Wylde, producer Andrew Watt, Billy Morrison, Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine), Mike Inez (Alice In Chains) and Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins).

“Ozzy: No Escape From Now” was produced produced by U.K. production house Echo Velvet in partnership with the Osbournes and MTV Entertainment Studios. The documentary is executive produced by Bruce Gillmer and Amanda Culkowski (MTV Entertainment Studios), Phil Alexander (Echo Velvet; former editor-in-chief of MOJO, Q, Kerrang!) and Sharon Osbourne (Sharon Osbourne Management).
