Elvis was visited by Juan Juanico for a couple of days. Because of the many fans around the house they stayed inside for most of the time. However during the night Elvis and June did go out to see some newsreel footage at the local theater. Unfortunately fans saw the limousine and vandalized it.


1957
Jailhouse Rock opens in USA theatres
“Jailhouse Rock” becomes Elvis Presley‘s ninth Billboard chart topper in the last year and a half. Rolling Stone magazine would later rank it as #67 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time and it was named as one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.
1958
Buddy Holly was at the Pythian Temple Studios in New York for the last time, taping “It Doesn’t Matter Any More” (a number 1), “Raining In My Heart”, “Moondreams”, and “True Love Ways”.
At Master Recorders in Hollywood, Ricky Nelson recorded “It’s Late.” At a later date, the Jordanaires overdubbed background vocals for the track.
Elvis Presley released the single “One Night” b/w “I Got Stung.”

1961
for Kid Galahad, Elvis flew to Los Angeles with Joe Esposito, Charlie Hodge and Billy Smith. The other guys went by car.
Elvis hired Marty Lacker.
Also new in the house was Scatter, a chimpanzee. Elvis got the chimp from Captain Bill Killebrew. The monkey was trained to “drive a car” . Elvis and the guys really enjoyed the things the chimp did, unlike some of the girls around.

1962
Cliff Richard appeared on CBS-TV’s “The Ed Sullivan Show.” Kate Smith, Rip Taylor, Wayne & Shuster and Dave Barry also performed on the program.

Wanting to improve on a previous recording session The Beatles started from scratch on a new song called ‘Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)’, finishing recordings in three takes. They also begin working on another new John Lennon song ‘Nowhere Man.’
Bill Black, leader of Bill Black’s Combo and Elvis Presley’s original bass player, died from a brain tumor. Black’s biggest solo hit was “White Silver Sands”, an instrumental that made it into the US Top Ten in 1960.
Elvis was quoted in the Commercial Appeal as saying that Bill ” was a great man and a person that everyone loved. This comes as such a shock to me that I can hardly explain how much I loved Bill”.
Elvis didn’t attend the funeral, as he was afraid of causing disruption.

Seventeen years after having hits with some of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s most memorable classics, Chuck Berry his first and only US and UK was “My Ding-a-Ling”, a college novelty song about masturbation. It was recorded live at Coventry Lanchester Polytechnic in England as part of the Lanchester Arts Festival, for which Berry turned up an hour and a half late. It blocked Elvis’ Burning Love single from #1, and he’d not have another #1 during his lifetime.

Rick Nelson entered the Top 10 with “Garden Party”, It was Nelson’s first Top 10 hit in nine years.

Queen’s single “Killer Queen” was released.
Dr Ghanem ordered a series of tests to determine the cause of Elvis’ intestinal problems. These turned up a ” nonpenetrating ulcer crater” along with “edematous mucosal folds”. Elvis stayed in a special wing of Dr. Ghanem’s home, for celebrity patients. Elvis had to go through a new “sleep diet”, consisted of liquid nourishment and sedated rest.

1975
As a collection of movie title tracks, an album especially for children and so forth. RCA had not yet responded to any of his suggestions, so now the Colonel went to RCA with a telegram from Elvis:
” I would like to work on an album for early ’76 release, where I would do a combination, part conventional and part live from Las Vegas, during my Dec. 2-15 engagement. This would give a much better flavor with all the new material. Best regards, Elvis” Nothing came from this suggestion.

Milo High flies Elvis’ aunt, Delta Biggs, and Mike McGregor to Boston to pick up Elvis’ chow. Get Lo, who has been recuperating at the New England Institute for Comparative Medicine veterinary hospital in West Boylston for almost three months.

The 21st October show was in the city Kalamazoo Wings Stadium and Elvis wore the Ace Of Spades Suit for the first time since nearly two year to the date of its debut but this time with the V-Neck suit belt

A television special called The Carl Perkins and Friends Show, marked the 30th anniversary of the song “Blue Suede Shoes”. The event featured Carl Perkins, the song’s writer, along with Dave Edmunds, Eric Clapton, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

Lisa Marie Presley gives birth to Elvis’ second grandchild, first grandson. She and 1st husband Danny Keough name the baby Benjamin Storm Keough.

The Guinness Book Of Records announced that Elton John’s “Candle In The Wind” (Princess Diana version) was now the biggest selling single record of all time in the US and the UK, with 31.8 million sales in the first 40 days after its release. The all-time sales leader world wide is Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas”.

U.S. President Bill Clinton signed the Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act of 1998, extending the duration of U.S. copyrights by 20 years. Copyrights had lasted for the life of the author plus 50 years. The new act allows copyrights to last the life of the author plus 70 years in the case of individual works, or 75 to 95 years in the case of works of corporate authorship and works first published before January 1, 1978.

Sony releases the second Elvis with Symphony: The Wonder of You – and also concert tours with local orchestras.

The Wonder of You is a compilation album by American singer Elvis Presley (1935–77). It was released on October 21, 2016 by RCA Records and Legacy Recordings. The album features archival vocal recordings of Elvis accompanied by new orchestral arrangements by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, recorded at the Abbey Road Studios. It also features a duet with German singer Helene Fischer.
The album debuted at #1 on the UK Albums Chart earning a BPI Silver award in its debut week with sales of 63,500
It is Elvis’ 13th UK number-one album, making him the solo artist with most UK number-one albums (and overall only behind The Beatles with 15 number-one albums).[5] Elvis also extended the record for most UK top 10 albums, with The Wonder of You becoming his 52nd top 10 album.[6] It became the year’s 5th top selling album, and the biggest seller by a US artist, the top four being Adele “25”, Coldplay’s “A Head Full Of Dreams”, Justin Bieber’s “Purpose”, and Michael Ball & Alfie Boe’s “Together” (three UK artists and a Canadian). Finally, it was also the #2 album released in the UK in 2016, after “Together” and by extension, the top selling album released in 2016 by a non UK artist.
