Elvis performed at the Municipal Auditorium, Amarillo, Texas. There was an advertisement referring to Elvis as the king of western bop, but also stated that his way of dressing had nothing to do with western style. They called him a cool cat.

The Elvis Presley single “Blue Moon” hit #55 in the U.S.

Elvis performed at the Sam Houston Coliseum, Texas twice this day. First at 4.00 and later on 9.00 p.m. The crowd was warned to sit down by Oscar Davis, the Colonel’s advance man: “just remember, it might be your kid that gets trampled”.
The other acts were: Rex Marlowe, Howard & Wanda Bell, Phil Maraquin, Hubert Castle, The Jordanaires, Sherry Davis

Changing Moods – Rocking and rolling through a variety of moods as he sang to a full house of girls at the Coliseum Saturday, Elvis Presley exhibited, in turn, deep feeling, boyish charm and homespun sincerity. The thousands of grinning fans were completely under his control. Presley had only to bounce slightly on the balls of his feet to evoke shrill thunder and a churning sea of movement. But withal the crowd behaved itself

It Happened at the World’s Fair production
1963
One of the first known demonstrations of Beatlemania took place as The Beatles appear on BBC’s Sunday Night at the Palladium. They played, ‘From Me To You’, ‘She Loves You’, ‘Twist and Shout’ and ‘I’ll Get You.’ Many fans battled with police to get into the theater as 15 million British viewers watched the show on TV.
Elvis and the rest of the cast and crew travelled about 100 miles east of Los Angeles to the town of Big Bear in the mountains for shooting Kissin’ Cousins.

TV host Ed Sullivan died. His Sunday night variety show was on the air for 23 years and won an Emmy and two Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Variety Show.
