This Album was spun about 5 times in a row tonight. I couldn't get enough of listening to this gem. 8-)

A gem indeed! Of all his movie soundtracks, this has to be his finest. And it's in my top 5 of all his albums. A true artist at work...

I gave these four vinyl goodies a spin yesterday. I still hope that somehow, at some point, these nice albums get the re-release they deserve. They could combine the four original booklets into one nice book. A nice LP-sized boxset will do...

The new box set- Sunset Boulevard.

Mixed feelings. But I like the Ross Soang vibe, so have found a few favourites.

Yes, I also would like to see a re-release of those albums in a boxset, great idea.

I love those albums, I've had them all since I was a teen.

Right now I'm giving this '61 pressing of "His Hand In Mine" another spin. The cover has had some rough times in the past 64 years, but the vinyl sounds remarkably good. It's nice to hear those mono mixes once in a while. "He Knows Just What I Need" is called "Jesus Knows What I Need" on this release. I love to listen to Elvis gospels with the fantastic FTD books "His Songs Of Praise" volumes 1&2 beside me so I can read about the origins of the songs and how Elvis came to record them. The late Trevor Simpson really did a magnificent job on these books! I still praise him for it!

King Creole has been my go to album since I first owned it and played it in 1976
Pure rock n roll
Back in the day when Elvis was in control of his own music and was given decent songs
to sing ones that he enjoyed singing its a pity he never added Hard Headed Woman and
New Orleans to his live set list both in my opinion are great

The picturization of the song is chef's kiss.

Yes, absolutely! Lyrics, phrasing, timing, atmosphere... everything in this performance is superb. That goes for the complete King Creole soundtrack imo. In fact I think Elvis was at the peak of vocal capabilities in 1958. The rawness was still there and the voicecontrol was fullgrown. A true master at work!

I completely agree with 1958 being the vocal peak.

...it`s a good point and hard to disagree, but I am going with the early 60s as far as vocal capabilities.

And that's a good point and hard to disagree with too!

The early 60's (up to1964) has Elvis singing absolutely perfect. No doubt about it. Maybe it's the diversity in songs (and voice) that makes me prefer1958 just that little, very little, bit over the early 60's. But his voice in 1966 up to 1971 is also wonderful. And even in the later 70's there were periods that he was in great voice. I believe that if one would have a person, who never heard anything sung by Elvis, listen to Blue Moon, Hound Dog, Lover Doll, Little Sister, Anything That's Part Of You, If I Can Dream, Suspicious Minds, Danny Boy and Unchained Melody... That person would think that there are all different singers at work.

That's one of the reasons that still makes me enjoy listening to Elvis after all these years... different voice, different sound, different type of songs over the years. A unique artist.

Belgium boot from 1992.
The contents (early sixties songs, mostly masters but here and there some instruments missing) do not match the artwork at all.
But i do love the artwork very much!
