Their exit was captured by photographer George Fry, who told The Los Angeles Times in 2017 he was surprised at the affection the now-divorced couple showed one another outside the courtroom. He claimed they were “smiling and smooching. They were still great friends.”

I’ve never really thought about it before, but Elvis doesn’t look that happy. I think the few smiles, the kiss and hand holding were an act. Priscilla on the other hand looks very pleased with the result. Not sure if Elvis was unhappy about loosing his wife or Lisa, the settlement or maybe he thought the media would make him look bad and upset his fans.

I think the divorce was more a blow to his ego and for his public image

He was not happy being married, there was a lot of pressure for him to get married - not just from Priscilla's parents

but from the public perception, as being single was to be suspect in those decades

I think he had some relief not having to lead such a double life

as for Lisa - he got to have her at Graceland or in LA when he wanted, he was not on a visitation schedule

He looks puffy and exhausted

and court proceedings are awful to endure
