Elvis The Complete Masters Collection (Franklin Mint Version)

I picked this up recently in used condition but everything in it is in excellent shape so very happy with it. I already had the other version from Sony so of course it`s all duplication, but I must say I like how they titled some of these CDs and in particular the contents related to that CD, some are quite clever. Anyone else have this as well??

I got this set when it first came out, and it came out before the Sony set, so you could say the Sony set had duplications of this set, rather than the other way around.
I bought it, but got it sent to Memphis, to Jordan's house, as they didn't post to the UK, and then he posted it to me in the UK.
There was an error on one of the discs so they repressed it. The thing is with the Franklin Mint though, they don't just send you a replacement disc, they send you a brand new set, with replacement disc!
So, in effect, I got two sets for the price of one, and I let Jordan keep one - winner,
I sold my set last year when I got offered £2500 for it. I paid £700 for it originally, so I sold it, as I still have my Sony set.

The Franklin Mint set went with a themed approach rather than listing the songs chronologically as was done on TCM... it makes for a more pleasant listening experience...

I absolutely love my set of Elvis The Complete Masters. I have discovered sublime gems of Elvis songs that I never would have otherwise, because they are simply not talked about all that often aside from 50 of the most well-known, and are likely buried in past album releases or records.
I don't have the time anymore to sit and listen to music all the time, so I pick a CD or 2 or 3 and cycle through them randomly while I work. It's the one way that I can discover some excellent songs I didn't know existed.

I got a replacement disc 6 ("Heartaches") too; however, I did not get a completely new set of discs. For some reason, The Franklin Mint, replaced the box the discs came in with a slightly larger box. I never could figure out the reason for the replacement box.

Well I know for a fact that the replacement disc, along with a brand new full set including the box, was sent to me for some reason. Jordan still has the replacement set I told him to keep, as far as I know, and he sent the replacement disc to me.
Come on Jordan, chime in here, and tell me I'm not losing my mind!
I also did a comparison of the Franklin Mint and the Sony sets in The Man And His Music magazine, in an article called "Sony Versus The Mint" years back, when they both came out. I'll dig it out and post the scans of it here.

I played this CD today (Heartaches) and my copy was fine so mine must be a later edition.

Anyone care to tell us what the actual error was please?

John, I found this on the Internet:
"She's Not You fades about seven seconds early on the original pressing. Replacement discs were delivered to buyers. Ernst Jorgensen has said this error will not be present on the Complete Masters."
I kept the defective disc. At the end of "She's Not You" Elvis sings "And it's just breaking . . ." It ends there.

Check disc 6 “Heartaches.” If track 9 (“She’s Not You”) abruptly ends with “And it’s just breaking …” you have the defective disc.

Thanks for that. I have the complete version. In checking, I notice that there is what sounds like a finger snap right at the end after El stops singing. This is also on quite a few other CDs. Bizarrely it's on the FTD Pot Luck master, but not on the Pot Luck Sessions master on disc 1, but it is on the master on disc 5. It's no big deal, nothing to get excited about, it's just an observation.

You are 100% completely accurate. I still have this set and have to say it was the biggest surprise to me. I had it all ready to ship to you when you dropped the bomb! It was one of, if not THE kindest most selfless acts of philanthropy I've ever experienced! And I don't just say that everyday!
Thank you brother!

Glad it worked out that way, J.R.
I was happy to just get the replacement disc.
Again, I'm glad it worked out well for you and Keith.
