Elvis duets

This was a disc I picked up because I like a lot of the female artists on it

When they blended with Elvis' recording the songs kinda worked but a few tried to out diva Elvis and given he was not in the studio, those tracks were less impressive and needlessly competitive

This video was very cool and almost seemless

while this was awful with Celine going Diva

the elvis stand in being shorter made her eye line all wrong, which contributed to the ruining this iconic Elvis moment instead of adding value

One singer I would have most loved Elvis to duet with is Brenda Lee.

They both have that exact mix of raunchy, sexy, sweet, raspy, wild style.

I enjoy the 3 tracks at the end that have new accompaniment mixed with the original instruments. The First Noel is lightyears better than Elvis' original recording...

Really?? For me one of the worst. Why include "puttin through Als mike" and why not have Gretchen sing the verses that Elvis never recorded???
A missed opportunity

Also the duet of Blue Christmas should've been the one the did from the 68 special as it is light years better than the studio fake version!

It was a moneygrab project without correct artistic direction.

yes. the trying to make Elvis appeal to youth now with modern era artist or symphonies is not the way

let Elvis be Elvis

well there is two ways of looking at that?? Christmas Duets and the RPO releases were huge sellers. Whether they appealed to a younger generation or not I`m not sure, but Elvis being Elvis were never going to sell like those releases unless you go back many years. Has anything sold higher than the RPO releases since?? Probably not, whether you like them or not.

I think as long as Elvis is blamed for white artists copying black ones

along with the Elvis did not write songs claim, as if that was ever a requirement to be a singer

it is gonna be a challenge

unlike other artists. Elvis did not do note for note nor word for word covers. he had different arrangements and alternative lines

Elvis' early work is exciting and stands on it's own

If a real cool duet was made with Taylor Swift Id think it could be a hit.
But it means really chaning things up.

Create something new. The christmas duets had nothing to appeal to younger generation.

yes it would probably be a #1 hit because all the Swifties would buy it ;) ...that said a duets project would probably work with the current artists the younger generation listens too (Taylor Swift for sure) or even sampling a few words from an Elvis track into their song. The reality is that I am not too sure if Sony are even interested in this concept anymore

They should. A good project like this for 2027 will do wonders for exposure.

I found the re-issue duets thing not so bad, we have always the originals to get back too.
I like this "duet" pretty much, it made me feel proud of Elvis, what a voice!
