I hope to "reinterpret" discs 3-5 of this set, eventually, using a similar audio template [at least for the 1970 material] to the above sample.Bilbobaggins wrote: August 28th, 2025, 2:12 pmThank you very much. I very much agree. I still think that, despite the very nice first two CD's, this set is way too unbalanced for a mainstream release. 3 CD's full of rehearsels, varying in quality, is too much. Even if the soundquality of these rehearsels was top notch... the nature of the recordings is collector's material. So for mainstream, one CD with the highlights of the rehearsels would have been fine imo. Having said that... As I said earlier, I do enjoy the Spang remixes very much.ElvisAliSellers wrote: August 29th, 2025, 6:53 amDelano wrote: August 28th, 2025, 2:01 pmAmazing sound!ElvisAliSellers wrote: August 28th, 2025, 1:28 pm Dynamic and unblurred narrow stereo mix of the cookin' rehearsal take of "That's all Right" from the July 24, 1970 rehearsal:

It's kind of sad that some of Spang's better work sits alongside unsatisfactory mixes of the rehearsal sessions [even allowing for the substandard source of the '74 rehearsal tape] AND even more so given the normally solid creditionals of the engineer [Vic Anesini] who worked on them.
IMO they could have treated this set like they did the Elvis At Stax release... but remixed the finished masters and included alternate takes from both sessions on only 2CD's... would have made more sense to me.Bilbobaggins wrote: August 29th, 2025, 7:20 am I very much agree. But that would not have met the remit of putting out another and final release in the series of ‘undubbed" masters.elvis-fan wrote: August 29th, 2025, 8:37 pmIMO they could have treated this set like they did the Elvis At Stax release... but remixed the finished masters and included alternate takes from both sessions on only 2CD's... would have made more sense to me.Bilbobaggins wrote: August 29th, 2025, 7:20 am I very much agree. Agreed... and yet something we could have done without...FanFrom'61 wrote: August 30th, 2025, 4:06 amBut that would not have met the remit of putting out another and final release in the series of ‘undubbed" masters.elvis-fan wrote: August 29th, 2025, 8:37 pmIMO they could have treated this set like they did the Elvis At Stax release... but remixed the finished masters and included alternate takes from both sessions on only 2CD's... would have made more sense to me.Bilbobaggins wrote: August 29th, 2025, 7:20 am I very much agree. I enjoyed this very much! Thanks a lot!ElvisAliSellers wrote: September 2nd, 2025, 7:34 pm As promised, a remodelled stereo mix of the July 24, 1970 rehearsal.
Disc 3 only for the time being [same configuration/track markers but not a 1:1 copy of the Sunset Boulevard/Anesini edit].
The remaining discs will follow eventually but unlikely to be in the immediate future.
The '74 tape in particular requires a substantial amount of restoration work to make it even half presentable.
Link lasts for one week only.
