The fact is that if FTD closes down in 2027, many sessions will no longer be covered... until now, FTD has released two to three box sets per year containing complete sessions, and in the last two years we have only had film sessions. Considering the possibilities: NBC, Memphis 69, On Stage, Nashville 1970, 1971, 1972... I believe there will not be enough time until 2027....

What sessions are there for On Stage. Also, haven’t we already had a Memphis ‘69 session release, albeit with a few bits that Ernst felt were not worthy of release. I think they could roll 1971 in with 1972 as there isn’t enough from ‘72cthat would warrant a separate release.

Regarding the Memphis 69 recordings, as you yourself stated, there are takes and false starts that were left in the archives, in addition to partial mixes made by Felton and Chips, the tape called “Draft,” which only appeared on bootlets.
1972 recordings: FTD could release all the live recordings from February 1972, plus the studio session in which Burning Love was recorded.

But aren’t the session sets meant to be “as recorded at the studio sessions” and not after draft remixes or overdubs etc. And “live” recordings from 1970 and 1972 are not sessions in the strictest sense.

And because they are not sessions in the "strict sense of the word", can't they be released by FTD, the way they released the Aloha From Hawaii and Madison Square shows?
I would be very happy if FTD released this live material in 8“ format, whether they are ”sessions" or not, I would like to have the complete recordings.

I look at it this way. Of course there is a distinct difference between studio and live work, but in August 1969, February 1970 and February 1972 Elvis knew he was being recorded with a view to compiling albums, although with regards to the latter engagement said album didn't materialise.

August 1969 and August 1970 (which was essentially a multimedia project) are already well covered, but it would make sense for FTD to revisit the engagements from February 1970 and 1972 respectively.

It's also worth noting that stand alone audio discs from the Elvis Now In Person 1972 CD and book combo were also promised, but as these haven't been issued as yet, perhaps a set that focuses solely on February 1972 remains a possibility.
