The official announcement states: “An audio only FTD edition will be released during 2026.”

I thought the release statement was at the top of this thread which does not mention it. But hey ho, for completists, that’ll be another chunk of money they will have to spend.

I have not seen any
official statement that a CD only release will happen.
EIN states: "It is likely that an 'audio only FTD edition' will be released in 2026".
https://www.elvisinfonet.com/EIN_ELVIS_ ... _2025.html
Elviscorner states: "Please note: An audio only FTD edition will be released during 2026".

Chances are, of course, that a CD only release will happen, but the statements above are not official.

Is this taken from an mailing they sent to dealers?

It is weird to EIN that if you own the previous two FTD GI Blues releases and therefore probably Cafe Europa by MRS or on bootleg - then the only track that is new is "14. Shoppin’ Around(Instrumental, AO take 3 / master - from acetate)"
There better be a LOT of extra between-song banter to make the new release of the music worth purchasing yet again.
It is very expensive but fans must be buying to for the BOOK.
So buying another "audio only" FTD 5-CD set? Who would do that?
Cheers

That's a good point. I was thinking on just going the session set route but I have probably nearly all of it now so by getting the books ,you get all the audio that we already have but we get the books that are new and are awesome books.
I guess it boils down to how much we are willing to spend.

Many don’t care about the books — me included.
But this time, I wouldn’t bother with the FTD 5-CD set either. Better sound than ever, yes, but there isn’t anything new, so the old Vol. 1/2 sets are more than enough for me.
Not only could we have gotten a new session box set with lots of unreleased takes instead of this release, but next year we’ll get this audio once more instead of something truly unreleased.
Oh well, at least I’m saving a lot of money these days when it comes to FTD.

If it is mastered by Sebastian, the sound will be solid. If you own prior FTD volumes, then you are buying for the books.

This will be a lovely box set for sure!
The previous two FTD classic albums were also mixed and mastered by Anesini and Jeansson, IIRC. On some of these releases I have my doubts that the mixing and mastering is entirely new (e.g. DEVIL IN DISGUISE). Since this time they didn‘t even advertise it as such, it‘s pretty clear to me that we‘re getting the same old mixes, hopefully with a little work done to them. The new sequencing and the 5-disc-format should allow for a well-spaced presentation with more studio banter and talk included. Let‘s hope for the best!

But what about the 1972 In Person Box ? I thought they promised a CD set only release as well.

They did. But they also said the exclusive recordings from "Elvis Now In Person 1972" would be re-released in a completely new configuration. I'm 100% sure this re-release has already been scheduled.

Is this not enough , plus the two 7 inch FTD s and the information you can finds the session at to find in the Tunzi Sessions books .
And they dont put a dvd GI Blues for that big money?

Thats the same thing as what they did by King Creole.

I'm hopeful we finally get a '72 Vegas multitrack release in 2026 that has all the previously released audio from the winter engagement including the tracks from the Elvis Now In Person 1972 set...

Same here. A release like this would be a good opportunity to also include the full January 26 soundboard and be done with it. And I wouldn't mind if they left out the Buffalo rehearsal and did another "On Tour" themed re-release later on.
