These things exist just to make money. They have no intrinsic value and there's nothing artistic about them. Nothing at all. I confess that I do enjoy (and buy) the occassional colored vinyl like the recent "Moody Gold" on FTD, but this? Isn't it obvious?

All releases exist to make money, otherwise there is no point in the record company releasing records. Yes I get where you are coming from, but it might just be that some missed out on the original releases, But no one is holding a gun to anyone’s head to make the purchase but I think we are getting to the point where many collectors are now drawing a line in the sand, even with FTD or Sony releases and are not buying just because Elvis’ name is in the label. And with the well almost dry with so much barrel scraping going on, it begs the question as to what Sony will find to release in 2027 that collectors have not already got.

Making money is the main reason for
every business in the world! MOV is a company that re-issues vinyl under license of the original record label and/or artist. They are obliged to use the label of the original company and add their own logo as being the pressing plant. They make quality products imo. It is not a bootleg label... far from it. They have quite a catalogue of a variety of artists.
Of course, nobody is forced to buy their releases. But there is a substantial collectors market for these releases.
I understand it if these releases are not your cup of tea, and that's fine, of course! For me... I like to pick and choose releases from MOV and enjoy them very much. Not just Elvis vinyl by the way.
It's good that not everybody likes the same things. It would be a dull world, wouldn't it?

Why would any business produce anything if not to make money?

I think you are right about the licensing. Licensing is the reason that MOV only sells (or is allowed to sell) these re-issues in Europe.

Is it a licensing thing or a royalty thing. What would prevent Sony from licensing the product to a third party especially if Sony own the material and more-so if the recordings are pre the 1973 sale. It seems strange that they Sony are prepared to license TTWII but not Elvis Country or Back in Memphis but not From Elvis in Memphis.

I don't know what the licensing problem is, but this is what MOV states in "the small print" on their website:
"Due to rights restrictions, this item is only available in Europe."

Oh I understand that bit, but not about why only selected titles are going to be available in this series. We get A Date With Elvis and For LP Fans Only from 1959, but not Elvis Is Back, His Hand in Mine, Something for Everybody or Pot Luck as examples or the couple that I previously mentioned.

Ah...yes... I see what you mean now. Sorry, misunderstood. I very much agree. These titles would deserve a MOV release (just as King Creole for example). I haven't got a clue why these great albums were not selected. No clue at all...
