But that would not have met the remit of putting out another and final release in the series of ‘undubbed" masters.elvis-fan wrote: August 29th, 2025, 8:37 pmIMO they could have treated this set like they did the Elvis At Stax release... but remixed the finished masters and included alternate takes from both sessions on only 2CD's... would have made more sense to me.Bilbobaggins wrote: August 29th, 2025, 7:20 am I very much agree. I still think that, despite the very nice first two CD's, this set is way too unbalanced for a mainstream release. 3 CD's full of rehearsels, varying in quality, is too much. Even if the soundquality of these rehearsels was top notch... the nature of the recordings is collector's material. So for mainstream, one CD with the highlights of the rehearsels would have been fine imo. Having said that... As I said earlier, I do enjoy the Spang remixes very much.

Re: Elvis Presley - Sunset Boulevard
As promised, a remodelled stereo mix of the July 24, 1970 rehearsal.
Disc 3 only for the time being [same configuration/track markers but not a 1:1 copy of the Sunset Boulevard/Anesini edit].
The remaining discs will follow eventually but unlikely to be in the immediate future.
The '74 tape in particular requires a substantial amount of restoration work to make it even half presentable.
Link lasts for one week only.

Re: Elvis Presley - Sunset Boulevard
Some good tracks/mixes on disc 1 and 2, but I haven’t bothered with the rest of the set.
I have played the 1970 rehearsal so much over the years, and after hearing that, it sounds worse
than the FTD recordings—so why bother, right?
The 1974 material sounds too rough for my taste, always has. The distortion being the main problem.

Great work! Hopefully, you will share the rest of the July 24 rehearsal as well.ElvisAliSellers wrote: September 2nd, 2025, 7:34 pm As promised, a remodelled stereo mix of the July 24, 1970 rehearsal.

I feel that the ’74 rehearsal is a lost cause (i.e., not possible to make good)
due to microphone distortion.

A repaired version of "Burning Love" [take 2 - listed as takes 3 & 4 on Sunset Boulevard] that reinstates a previously missing 21 second section of Emory Gordy's bass line during the tail end of the track. The EQ/FX are unaltered.

Certainly, even with the most advanced software and restroration skills, there will always be limitations when working with a substandard source.LSP-4445 wrote: September 21st, 2025, 5:57 am I feel that the ’74 rehearsal is a lost cause (i.e., not possible to make good)

Hopefully, you will hear a modicum of improvement on the before [raw] and after [restored] draft mix sample of "Down in the Alley" below.

Yeah, it's just a preliminary mix; nothing is locked in yet.John wrote: October 2nd, 2025, 3:55 pmThat is a definite improvement, but the backing voices seem too low.ElvisAliSellers wrote: October 2nd, 2025, 3:11 pmCertainly, even with the most advanced software and restroration skills, there will always be limitations when working with a substandard source.LSP-4445 wrote: September 21st, 2025, 5:57 am I feel that the ’74 rehearsal is a lost cause (i.e., not possible to make good)

The backing vocalists, though, are quite overpowering on the raw mix and do need toning down a little.
You may also note that there is some separation of the individual background singers [centre-left, centre-right] which helps - to some extent - to project a comparatively broader sound picture.

The bass drops out at around 2:05-2:26 on the original mix [first heard on the 6363 Sunset FTD that came out in 2001].KingElvis wrote: October 2nd, 2025, 4:28 amThanks….but im not so sure I will notice any difference.ElvisAliSellers wrote: September 30th, 2025, 3:55 pm A repaired version of "Burning Love" [take 2 - listed as takes 3 & 4 on Sunset Boulevard] that reinstates a previously missing 21 second section of Emory Gordy's bass line during the tail end of the track.
