5. Follow That Dream

Re: Top 10 best movie soundtracks
The three of you have presented pretty much the same soundtracks in slightly different order and I don’t have much trouble with any of them. In my top ten, I would simply want to add It Happened At The World’s Fair and probably drop either Roustabout or LALLAL. World’s Fair is short, as are Follow That Dream and Kid Galahad, but it has three or four beautiful songs and vocals that are amongst the best of his career. He sings like an angel.

Re: Top 10 best movie soundtracks
It’s known the quality of Elvis’ movies went downhill after 1963/1964. Scripts / movie songs etc are poor now from that moment. The 4 pre-army movies are the best.

There are gems in virtually every movie, as you say. Vocals are more inconsistent.Sweet-Angeline wrote: September 9th, 2025, 8:20 amgenerally that is true...but after that period there is still the odd gem to seek out from 64 to 69colonel snow wrote: September 9th, 2025, 4:19 am It’s known the quality of Elvis’ movies went downhill after 1963/1964. Re: Top 10 best movie soundtracks
King Creole is the best of the lot, because it transcends the soundtrack aspect, and can stand as an album on its own.
Elvis' vocals, the vibe, the production, writing- top notch.

Re: Top 10 best movie soundtracks
Even in mediocre to terrible movies, there is usually an excellent song or two.
Please Don't Stop Loving Me( F&J)
You don't know me ( Clambake)
So Close, yet so far ( Harem Holiday )
All I needed was the Rain ( Stay Away Joe)
Sand Castles ( PHS)
Except Kissin Cousins.

Re: Top 10 best movie soundtracks
It's such a changeable feast. There are so many different aspects to the movies, from the music, the acting, the co-stars, the scenery, the topic, and more.
No one has mentioned Kissin' Cousins. Whilst it's not a brilliant film, it's full of bloopers, which are quite good fun to look for, Elvis is in great voice, there is a lot of comedy to it and it's very light-hearted. I think it's an enjoyable film to watch, and I do like the songs.
I think Follow That Dream is great, again for its comedy content, and the songs, and Elvis' acting.
I can't compile a list though.

Re: Top 10 best movie soundtracks
I read some misunderstanding in your post. This thread is not about picking your 10 best movies: it's about the soundtracks (albums/ extended plays)John wrote: September 11th, 2025, 3:13 am It's such a changeable feast. Yes sorry, I went off track a bit. Anyway, my comments stand about it being a changeable feast.Alexander72 wrote: September 11th, 2025, 4:13 amI read some misunderstanding in your post. You get a soundtrack album with 5 songs and another with 10 or 12, and it's too difficult to compare them. In a way, that's what I was getting at by mentioning the movies, because it's an added element which allows you to enjoy the songs...but I'll keep quiet now.

Re: Top 10 best movie soundtracks
Same here, and those two would also be in my list. I actually like the trashy mid-60s soundtracks the best. The sillier the better, I say.JohanD wrote: September 12th, 2025, 7:55 am Very hard to choose...
