BlackpoolEPfan wrote: December 23rd, 2025, 11:32 am I can only assume that Luhrmann will be responsible for remixing, remastering, and eventually releasing the footage of the 'complete' Hampton Roads concert...?

I can envisage it now:

Elvis Live - the complete Hampton Roads '72 concert...featuring the backing of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (on selected tracks)!!!

And the only completeness about this film release will be the completely EDITED concert in it's almost complete entirety!!! 🤔😡🤬
I understand that you’re angry, but how long do you intend to stay that way?
Epic is made mainly for the general public, not only for the fans, so compromises
are something we just have to live with.
I’ve lived long enough that I’m not at all surprised by the strange choices that
are made during the production of a film like this.
If it weren’t for Baz, this film wouldn’t have been made at all. Whether we get
more depends on how it performs in cinemas, on DVD, Blu-ray, and streaming combined.
In the end, it all comes down to this project needing to make good money.
And that`s not up to all the fans but the general public.
To be honest i`m not 100% certain that it will.
Yeah, I know what you're saying KingElvis - thanks for your post. My angry cup runneth over. ☹️
I realise it all comes down to business and putting together the best possible creative choices for the modern age in order for it to make the money required.
I suppose I'll just have to bite my tongue until the end of February. You never know, I may really like it...

I'll shut up now, and wish you a Merry Christmas and look forward to watching "Roustabout" at 4pm this afternoon (UK time) on the Sky Arts channel!! 🥳📺
Believe me, I understand your frustration.
But I have experienced so many disappointments regarding Elvis film and movie projects over the years that nothing surprises me anymore.

A few examples:

In 2000, we got Aloha and the ’68 Comeback Special for the very first time on DVD, but many songs were missing due to copyright issues.

In 2001, TTWII – SE was released on DVD, but the promised one hour of bonus footage was cancelled at the last minute. So late, in fact, that the bonus track list was still printed inside the sleeve. As a result, the release was delayed by two months so new artwork could be made. Many people still got the first issue anyway — myself included.

In 2007, we were promised TTWII outtakes on the DVD reissue, but the video quality was awful, and the poor-quality versions were included by mistake.

This happened again with the Blu-ray release.

So my hopes for a Blu-ray release of Epic with bonus aren’t great, but maybe Baz is more reliable than the people who worked on the earlier DVD releases.

With the Get Back docuseries Disney streamed 9 hours of The Beatles creating, rehearsing and performing, and at no point did anyone think, this will sound better if we add contributions from PNAU, Jamieson Shaw, Omar Fedi or the RPO etc.

I understand the points you are making, but this approach - which suggests that the producer's don't have 100% confidence in the product they are trying to sell - seems to be exclusive to Elvis. That's the frustrating thing about this.

If anyone is not impressed by the original concert audio from the summer of 1970 or the spring of 1972, then unfortunately they just don't get it, and it's a real shame that the people that do have to settle for projects which are ultimately compromised by this approach.
I think Get Back was more like fan service and it was direct to streaming.
EPiC is a theatrical release and targeted at a wider audience. The remixing shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone given that the biopic also had its share of remixes. And the fact that EPiC is marketed as neither a documentary nor a concert film gives Luhrmann more freedom to do whatever he wants to do.
That documentary must have been a dream come true for the Beatles fans
I tried watching Get Back on Disney+, but it wasn’t for me… dare I say it was boring 😳
And there were no complete (?) performances, but most likely that’s simply how it was filmed 🤷
Apart from the rooftop sequence, which I believe includes some complete songs.

i found Baz's Elvis a bit underwhelming

I don't think a general audience could really follow it, and it just seemed like a highlights of Elvis life by making iconic photos come to life

you had to know Elvis' world to get it, and the errors were glaring - like singing Trouble at Russel park, when that was from King Creole

the hanging out with BB King... it was a bit weird to make an Elvis bio pic about other artists

but not as weird as the Ma Rainey biopic that was more about the session player and her nephew than her

I feel that Luhrmann's creativity goes down too many melodramatic paths that can alienate some fans, and as a consequence artistic licence is taken with a number of things that didn't really happen the way they are portrayed on screen...☹️

yes

and his penchant for spectacle was too fixated on recreation in the Elvis movie

i loved that it started with the snowman banner

and got that it was a col parker narration to lessen his villainy

but Elvis just seemed passive in the retelling of his story, more bewildered than driven

I think anyone who has heard the 2022 Elvis soundtrack knows what to expect from this EPIC soundtrack.
I'll tell you one thing: I didn't understand the remixes made for the Elvis movie. Summer Kisses... Edge of Reality... they're not Elvis, only his voice is. I found both songs and other remixes unnecessary.
Regarding EPIC, I didn't understand the inclusion of questionable versions by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, once again: it's not Elvis. I would have preferred them to remix the originals...
But as someone up there wrote, we've lived long enough to have seen the strangest things in Elvis-related projects.

Not for me. It's just an expanded edition of the Spankox 2002 releases. I was not too thrilled when the remix of "A Little Less Conversation" came out back then. This is no different.

Apparently, there are many variants. CDs are released in February and vinyl in April. Amazon are doing an exclusive multi coloured vinyl version whilst Graceland are offering it in a different colour. And then there is the regular black vinyl. Obviously they are hoping to appeal to the collector who wants to own everything.

I knew you wouldn’t be able resist these colourful variations lol. I’ve pre-ordered the Amazon one but not sure about the Graceland one as postage is a bit high. I’ll pick up the CD from a shop As a collector, do you have a list of all the Graceland Exclusive vinyls they have put out over the last few years that you can show. I thought it was around 8 or 9titles but a fellow fan is convinced it is at least double that number. Thanks.

Great and so I was pretty close - thanks. I’ll check what I have. I know without looking that I don’t have any of the 10” releases.

I didn't particularly enjoy Elvis (2022) - too much artistic licence (distortion of events) used. I shall never watch it again, but then I'm 78 next week !

However, I'm very much looking forward to the new film and the album interests me. If it was just a collection of existing tracks, then there'd be no reason to buy it. I quite like the track that's just been released "Wearin' That Night Life Look", too. It grabs the attention. After all, we're in 2026, not 1969.

before I begin just want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I understand the viewpoint on the Elvis film, but I have accepted long ago that this happens with every biopic that I have ever seen. I agree with you on the new track, and I like the originals as well. I enjoy the soundtrack CD from the 1st film and I`m sure I will with this new one as well. The tracks have alot of "punch" to them like never before and I like that. I have seen the new film already and it`s brilliant to say the least.

Even though I fear the worst (I didn't particularly enjoy the 2022 soundtrack), this is a pre-order item for me. It's the LP on regular black vinyl plus the album on CD.

And cheers to Rob, wherever he may be.

the 2022 Baz film was awful IMO (but Butler was good). I knew going in I wasnt going to like, simply because I do not like Baz's film making style. I barely sat thru it once. I did not buy the soundtrack which I thought was worse than the film. Not sure how it did sales wise. Now 4 yrs later I do not think this soundtrack will sell a lot if this song is any indication. I am hoping the film at least leaves Elvis' performances alone and uncut but I am prepared to be let down once again. I am not sure how many new fans that were made in 2022 still care 4 years later, but I do know in the last 4 years many 1st gen fans have since passed on. I know3 personally
