Last Elvis concert you've listened to

Post by vinelvis »

Hi all,

Maybe some of you know me from the old forum. I'm Vinelvis and I'm happy to be back :) I've finally made it over here after having some time off to come to terms with the old forum being gone. I was browsing this forum and I think that one important topic is missing: the last Elvis concert you've listened to topic. If it's already made, you can ignore this post. Otherwise, please share your latest Elvis concert listen here (I off course stole this idea from Rob, but wanted to continue it here. All credtis to him!)

I'll start: right now I'm listening to the December 28 1976 show. A very fun show to listen to with a very energetic Elvis doing a longer and better show than he normally did in 1976. I'm excited to hear about your latest listens!

Thank you and welcome @vinelvis.

The last concert I listened to (yesterday) was the concert at the Robinson Memorial Auditorium, Little Rock, Arkansas, May 16 1956. I played it on the Young Man With The Big Beat set.

The first time I heard this concert was on the old Bilko boot 'Elvis Rocks Little Rock'. What a great concert and how lucky we are that it was recorded in such good quality!

I wish we had more shows from 54 to 57 in great quality.

Just listened to this beauty.
I had missed the 2014 version back in the days.
What a concert this is and with the missing songs... :)

It is a very nice concert! This pressing (of the Legacy version) sounds very good. A beauty indeed!

Not sure which mix I prefer regarding the Memphis ’74 show, as we’ve gotten so many over the years.
But I can say which one I dislike the most…the FTD mix from 2004/2005.

I listened to that one too today. Listening the whole tour as I always do. Love the additional songs performed this day and love Elvis' dedication.

You should get the F1rst Time in Birmingham boot…the sound is way better (imo) than on any
other releases of this show.

Regarding the topic, the last shows I’ve been listening to are some of the recent stereo
releases of the 1974 shows…including 19/8/74.

Especially 1957 as we only have snippets of those. I would love to hear a 1957 live version of One Night.

Right now I'm listening to Atalanta, December 30 1976. One of my favorite shows. Very long and good show!

Yesterday evening I listened to the concert from march 18, 1974 at the Coliseum, Richmond (as released on the Music on Vinyl pressing of last year). Steamroller blues just rocked out of the spreakers! Great show, Elvis in good mood and voice.

Are those 10” albums behind the main cover originals or repros?

These are the 1985 French reissues. The only original 10" I have (so far) is the 1957 UK Loving You. There is so much to collect, if one wants to!

That’s a shame, Loving You is the only original I have too. I do have a few 10” bootlegs including French Good Rockin’ Tonight. I also have the recent French King Creole 10” which sounds amazing.
