This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
In 2002, the Elvis Presley estate released 30 #1 Hits, featuring a slew of The King’s chart-toppers — everything from early hits like Heartbreak Hotel and Hound Dog to latter-day classics like In The Ghetto and Suspicious Minds. The next year, they followed up with 2nd To None, focusing on shouldabeens like Mean Woman Blues, Viva Las Vegas and Kentucky Rain.
HitStory compiles both those discs and adds a third — The Story Continues — with second-tier singles and soundtrack standouts like Ain’t That Loving You Baby, Flaming Star, Kissin’ Cousins, Such A Night and Steamroller Blues. The bad news: There’s no booklet — just a foldout poster with song credits and chart positions. The King and his fans deserve better.
DISCS: Three.
TRACKS: 80.
YEARS: 1956 – 2003.
