FTD Vinyl likely re-issues list and are they worth getting?

Talk about Elvis Presley. Anything goes. Anything? Yes, really!

FTD Vinyl likely re-issues list and are they worth getting?

Post by LesterB »

Given that FTD are repressing certain vinyl titles, what do you think might be in the (imminent) pipeline? Obvious titles that come to mind are:

The Jungle Room Sessions
Viva Las Vegas
Something for Everybody
Standing Room Only

Also are they even worth getting??? I was thrillled to get the Moody Blue repress only to be very dissapointed at how dreadful the studio takes sound.

Here is a list pasted from discgs to jog peoples memories -

I've no idea what they might do, but if they reissued Standing Room Only I would probably buy it. I'm not an FTD vinyl collector as such, but as this title was an album that could and should have been, it would be nice to add it to the collection.

The only downside is that they will probably change the cover artwork, and the original cover was very nicely done...

None of those titles excite me as far as reissues go... never been a fan of the VLV soundtrack and the sound quality of Standing Room Only is poor... fans like it for the cover art. I'd rather see some of the first LP titles reissued like Blue Hawaii, King Creole and Elvis Country...

I really wish, at some point, Sony would reissue (at least some) of Elvis' original LP catalog as they were originally released... with matching inner sleeves, photos, hype stickers and labels... like they did with the CD set.

and using the original analogue tapes as EMI did with the Beatles. The 1975/ 76/ 77 Indianapolis represses of Elvis' catalogue sound fantastic !

What would be nice is the complete bonus songs done properly on vinyl but FTD are yet to do this of course

Funny you mention that... I literally just received a sealed copy of this LP in the mail today (purchased on ebay)... I haven't played it yet. It's the black label version...

I had a couple of versions of this - not sure if I had the black label (silver ring) but ultimately got rid of them as they sounded dreadful.

Please let us know what you think of the sound.

Recently I posted photos of the bootleg ‘Jailhouse Rock LP’ on this thread.

I thought I’d compare this with the FTD vinyl version, I couldn’t help but notice that the bootleg copy which is over forty years old has a far better cover.

The photo is clearer than the FTD version, hopefully the attached photo will show the comparison.

FTD is unpredictable... I would really like them to reissue Standing Room Only, Viva Las Vegas.
But I still hope that FTD will release one of the Madison Square Garden and Aloha shows on LP, with the new mix, of course.
