Key Points
Priscilla Presley confirmed Elvis Presley's true feelings about Halloween.
Some fans think Elvis’s faith played a big role in whether he embraced the spooky season.
Elvis Presley’s favorite holiday leaned more toward one that combined both religious and festive traditions.
Elvis Presley loved to celebrate. However, the spooky season of Halloween wasn’t a favorite.

In 2014, Elvis Presley’s ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, responded to a Facebook fan question asking how the King of Rock and Roll felt about Halloween. Her answer surprised many.

A fan wrote, “Did Elvis like Halloween? What did you do on Halloween?”

Priscilla responded, “Elvis wasn’t really into Halloween.” She did not elaborate further.

Fan responses to her brief statement varied. “He liked scary movies. And checking out cemeteries at night. So that is surprising to me, but his faith might have led him to believe otherwise about Halloween,” wrote one Facebook follower.

A second asked, “Question, if he wasn’t into Halloween, did Elvis ever take Lisa trick or treating?” A third fan commented, “Most Christians don’t like that holiday, and Elvis, in my book, was a Christian.”

So what was Elvis Presley’s favorite holiday?

Elvis Presley’s favorite holiday was Christmas. He loved everything about the holiday, from its religious aspects to gift giving and decorations.

According to Graceland’s official website, Christmas was “Elvis’ favorite time of the year. Each year, Elvis would put up his decorations in late November and leave them up through his birthday in January.”

Architectural Digest spoke to Graceland’s VP of Archives and Exhibits, Angie Marchese, who revealed further details about Presley’s passion for the Christmas season. “Elvis loved Christmas; it was his favorite holiday,” she began.

“The dining room [held] their main Christmas tree, and it was heavily decorated with lights, tinsel, and various eclectic ornaments,” Marchese says. “The tinsel that we put on that tree every year is the original tinsel from when Elvis decorated it.”

Elvis Presley might not have cared much for ghosts and goblins, but he cherished moments that brought people together. His favorite holiday is a reminder that even the King valued love and connection over tricks and treats.
