New 2CD announcement : Heading Down To Sunset Boulevard - ReelTrax
COMING SOON! ESSENTIAL FOR EVERY ELVIS FAN! REELTRAX is back with a very strong 2-CD set! This time we are focused on Elvis´ legendary rehearsal for the “Summer Festival” engagement in 1974. Yes, it has been released before, BUT…. You won´t believe your ears when you hear the sound quality on the new REELTRAX release! It is more than likely that you will enjoy listening to it more than ever before!
The August 16, 1974 rehearsal, presented here has been carefully and newly mixed. Previous editions suffered from a problem where the music dropped to a very low volume whenever Elvis began singing. Using the latest state-of-the-art studio technology, we have worked to create a much more balanced recording that does justice to both the musicianship and Elvis’ performance. Each song has been carefully mixed for the best presentation.
The rehearsal has also been speed-corrected, as earlier releases ran far too slow. This important correction changes the whole rehearsal in the sense of that it does not sound any longer like a tired Elvis at work, and the band having gone to waste as soon as Elvis starts singing.
Since the complete recording demands not only one, but two CDs, we have added many performance highlights from the “Summer Festival” 1974 engagement. So what you get is a real STRONG 2-CD set, which should not be missed in any collection!
Make sure you´ll get your copy as soon as “HEADING DOWN TO SUNSET BOULEVARD” is available from your favorite dealer! Pre-order NOW!

It's just ridiculous that none of the previous outings featuring these rehearsals (at least four (?), two of them official) were speed-corrected. I'm looking forward to this!

Re: New 2CD announcement : Heading Down To Sunset Boulevard - ReelTrax
Shame the producers didnt include songs like Help Me and
Good Times Charlies Got The Blues live as bonus on disc 2.
Would be nice to at least include all the Stax songs that
was performed live during this season...and it
goes well with the title&topic of the CD.

Re: New 2CD announcement : Heading Down To Sunset Boulevard - ReelTrax
Listening right now to the first part of the rehearsal, i'm very pleased.
The sound is as good as it can be considering the source.
The speed is right, the overload practical gone, it's a new listening expierience.

I get what you’re saying, but comparing the Reel Trax release to the ElvisAliSellers mp3 version really isn’t one-to-one. His version was shared kindly, sure, but it’s still just a fan-made digital file. It’s not a physical product, not professionally pressed, not remastered for CD, not packaged, not part of a collectible catalogue, and not something you can actually hold in your hands.
Anyone with the right software can tweak EQ, adjust levels, or re-render a rehearsal tape as an mp3.
The whole point of Reel Trax is that they create tangible, curated editions with upgraded sound, artwork, and long-term playback quality. An mp3 floating around online, however well intentioned, just isn’t the same thing.
So yes, the ElvisAliSellers version was a nice share, but it’s not comparable to an actual CD release you can collect, store, display, or rely on for consistent audio quality. Variety in sources is great, but professionally assembled physical media still matters.

I think he shared a true lossless version (wav) but I have to check to be certain.JoeyCoco wrote: December 6th, 2025, 4:57 amKingElvis wrote: December 6th, 2025, 2:58 am Skipping thru the whole release now but I have no idea how this is different to the ElvisAliSellers version that

Anyway as written before not a big fan of this recording so I just lended this new release…not something I would buy.
Also I was more than happy what he did with the 24/7-70 rehearsal and thats my favorite sounding version
I did edit out all the silence/talking parts and have played that one a lot in the last few months.

My version of the August 16, 1974 rehearsal tape is unrelated to the above release.KingElvis wrote: December 6th, 2025, 2:58 am Skipping thru the whole release now but I have no idea how this is different to the ElvisAliSellers version that

The audio restoration and mixing aesthetics are totally different from one another.
Sample comparisons of "Down in the Alley" below [first mix is my work followed by the ReelTrax version].

Re: New 2CD announcement : Heading Down To Sunset Boulevard - ReelTrax
It's quite obvious that you haven't even heard ElvisAliSellers version of these tracks, so please do yourself a favour & listen before you compare them with a bootleg release! For most of us these days, WAV files are more than adequate quality to listen to tracks recorded on a cassette originally! If you need a physical product to hold, you are welcome to spend your money on Reel Trax "so-called" professionally assembled products.JoeyCoco wrote: December 6th, 2025, 4:57 am ... comparing the Reel Trax release to the ElvisAliSellers mp3 version really isn’t one-to-one. I haven't heard Reel Trax because ElvisAliSellers work is mind-blowingly good and offered for free
If you are interested, I can forward the tracks to you for free if you pm me your email address
