Re: Jim Sykes from SiriusXM's Elvis Radio passed away
Yes, they announced it on Thursday. Such a shame that he died so young. I recall he had heart issues a few years back. He seemed like a really nice guy.

Re: New FTD - MAKING OF G.I. BLUES
I just received the set late last week but have not yet had time to dive into it. Just wish the outer packing of was a bit stronger. My set came with dents caused by shipping internationally. I don't blame my Elvis dealer for this -- I blame FTD. A little thicker cardboard would work wonders ...

Re: Elvis vinyl related discussion
I fully agree, 'You're A Heartbreaker' has always been one of te poorer sounding recordings ever.
RCA did a terrible job with that, on the record you show, and on almost all the others that came after that.
It's from "Elvis at Sun" from 2004, that it finally is heard like a fresh breath of air, it ...

Re: New FTD - MAKING OF G.I. BLUES
The packaging of the cd's is not that nice as previous boxsets.
See example Jailhouse Rock / G.I.Blues
Looks cheap.

I think it's better. The CDs are better protected and slide out easily against the plastic backing.
I think so, too. I actually used ...

Re: Rob Reiner ["Meathead" from "All In The Family"] & wife Michele was found dead!
This is just really sad news. Stand By Me was one of my favorite films as a kid. I didn't agree with him much on politics but I admired his dedication for a better USA. RIP.

It was about time: last weekend I found some time to record a new episode of Your Elvis Guide which will be premiering next Friday (December 5) . In this video, I discuss the acquisitions that arrived in November 2025. For example, you'll see which rare reissue I found online at a record store in ...

Re: New FTD - MAKING OF G.I. BLUES
Anybody with really low numbers like this, bought their copy directly from either Ernst, Pål or David. It's definitely something to show off and brag about, if that's the kind of thing you like to do.
Merely showing my copy. I’m not the bragging sort. Have an enjoyable rest of your week.
How ...

Re: The Perfect BMG / Sony mainstream release 1977 - 2025
For me, it's got to be Essential Elvis 5: Rhythm and Country. When this came out the Stax sessions had not really been covered by bootlegs much and the material was all unheard to me. The sound was very good and the cuts included were strong. It was a worthy follow-up to Essential 4; it just ...

Re: Bootlegs with offically unreleased STUDIO outtakes
Another Bootleg that has unreleased outtakes is the 1996 'Famous Groove' release 'The Complete Frankie & Johnny Sessions'. They are not really complete because some of the tapes are lost or not found yet...
These tracks are not exactly Elvis' opus magnum... but still... here it is.

Re: Bootlegs with offically unreleased STUDIO outtakes
As for the Memphis '69 recordings I took the 5 volumes of the 'The American Way' CD's as my source. They are the most complete. I also have the "There's Always me' sets, Ámerican Crown Jewels' and 'Finding The Way Home', but there's nothing on those CD's that isn't on 'The American Way'. The ...
