Re: Elvis vinyl mastered by Boppin' Bob Jones

I will continue this series of confirmed BBJ pressings by adding two UK titles that were probably pressed before the green label International series was started. At least the No.2 is also available with 100% identical sleeve but with an orange label...but be aware that the orange labels ...

Re: Elvis vinyl related discussion

On the subject of mono mixes, if my information is solid... (So please correct me if I am wrong).

Period of real dedicated mono mixes

1954 - 1968 :

RCA made monomixes of (all?) Elvis recordings until about the end of 1968.This means that the mono versions were not simply "fold-downs" (stereo ...

Re: New FTD Vinyl - Good Times Re-Issue

I didn't buy the original, as I've never really collected FTD vinyl. I did pick a few up out of curiosity, but I always considered them overpriced, and RCA pressings from back in the day have always held more appeal for me. They are the real pieces of history.

That said, I have been tempted by a ...

Re: New FTD Vinyl - Good Times Re-Issue

Was this one of good sounding FTD Vinyls like boulevard?

Looks very nice.
The first presssing was poor sounding, if you ask me. They've very much improved since then!

Given that the first pressing was limited, theoretically they could use the same stampers for this re-issue. And given that ...

Re: American Sound Studio recordings – The ‘3 albums’ project

with regards to the FROM ELVIS IN MEMPHIS album...are we 100% sure that the songs on this album were picked and sequenced by Chips Moman?? Just curious

Isn't there some documentation in which Chips had originally chosen Mama Liked The Roses as one of the tracks? Im sure I've seen that somewhere ...

Re: American Sound Studio recordings – The ‘3 albums’ project

I know that many don't like 'Hey Jude' but this would not be the first jam that would be released on an album. The songs 'I'll hold you in my heart', 'Got my mojo working', 'Don't think twice, it's all right' and 'Merry Christmas, baby' were pretty much Elvis jamming, but they were used ...

Re: American Sound Studio recordings – The ‘3 albums’ project

Despite the undoubted quality of the sessions, I think three albums is too much of a stretch. I think they got it right with two albums, and using the rest of the tracks across B sides and budget titles. And the same thing should have been done with the June 1970 recordings.

The only thing I would ...

The 56 Sessions Volume 1 - Poster

According to the original edition of Elvis UK initial copies of the UK album, The 56 Sessions Volume One came with a poster featuring the cover image.

I don't recall seeing this (my copy didn't include one) and this isn't confirmed in Paul Alner's Elvis On Record (I have the first edition) or the ...
